On Saturday, December 28, 2024, the Zanzibar Association of Tour Operators (ZATO) in collaboration with Zenith Learning Center (ZLC), has successfully conducted a one-day training seminar with the Zanzibar Fun Diving (Makachu community) on sustainable tourism. The event took place at the British School of Zanzibar, Kisauni at 9:00 AM.
The training focused on critical aspects of tourism, including safety, environmental conservation, heritage, and culture. Key topics covered during the seminar were:
- Tourism and Hospitality Marketing of Zanzibar
- Tourism Activities Ethics of Zanzibar
- Tourism Activities Risk Management of Zanzibar
The session was facilitated by experienced trainers: Mr. Kombo Dhikiri Kombo (private), Mr. Mundhir Nassor (ZLC), and Mr. Khamis (ZLC). Their insights and expertise greatly enriched the participants understanding of sustainable tourism practices and their importance for the future of Zanzibar.
At the end of the seminar, participants were awarded certificates of participation by the Chairperson of ZATO, Mr. Khalifa Mohammed Makame. This recognition not only celebrated their dedication to learning but also encouraged them to apply sustainable tourism principles in their communities.
The event was well-attended and provided a platform for young people from the Makachu community to engage with industry professionals, gain valuable knowledge, and explore practical ways to promote sustainability in the tourism sector.
