Published on: April 16, 2026

On 15 April 2026, representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr. Adachi Shinya and Ms. Shiori Matsumoto, paid a courtesy visit to the ZATO Chairperson at his offices in Kisauni. They were accompanied by Mr. Thabit Masheko, Head of the Zanzibar Kaizen Unit (ZKU).
The delegation, referred by the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism, shared their interest in expanding Kaizen trainings and seminars for tourism stakeholders in Zanzibar, including ZATO members. Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement, with a strong focus on Business Development Services (BDS) and Quality and Productivity Improvement (QPI).
We held a productive 90-minute discussion, and both sides expressed strong commitment to move this initiative forward and support local tour operators to improve service quality and productivity.
